Sometimes It Takes a 2nd Glance (or 5th)…
You never know what you might catch on a subsequent examination of an item that you might have missed the first time (or in this case, first several times).
I first saw the multiple below in a dealer’s inventory at INDYPEX back in 2008, and have seen it every year since. it is a block of 3 of R15, and the dealer correctly noted that the top left stamp is a T15 major double transfer.
When I saw it on Friday, for what I believe is the 5th time, I noticed two things that I had never noticed before and that the dealer hadn’t noticed either:
1. It’s actually R15d, the silk paper, not R15c. No real difference in value, but it does help date the block.
2. This one I can’t believe no one ever noticed (including myself)… not only is the top left stamp a T15 (and a very strong example at that), but the bottom right stamp is ALSO a double transfer, but a completely different animal. It’s not one I’ve seen before, and I have several R15 DTs.
Two images below: The block and then a closeup of the two DTs side by side.
