
Rare Cancel from the Short-Lived Playing Card Company of Lawrence & Cohen & Lawrence & Cohen
Well, no not really. However it’s the first doubled strike I’ve seen of this cancel.
Handstamp cancels show up now and then with doubled strikes, but letterpress typeset cancels far less frequently, as it means the entire sheet of stamps was fed through the press twice.
Yes, the stamp is a bit munged, but it’s a neat piece nonetheless.
