A Wonderful 1st Issue Plate Number Single

A Wonderful 1st Issue Plate Number Single

1st issue plate number singles are fairly scarce and usually command large premiums.

High-denomination plate number singles are even more scarce and rarely seen.

A high-denomination plate number single still on document?… about as rare as rocking horse manure.

Luckily for me, the seller of the document below didn’t use the terms “plate number”, “plate single”, “margin”, or “imprint” anywhere in the title or listing. In fact, they just listed it as a regular R97c.

I guess this technically is not a complete plate number single, as according to Durling, the plate number was “1500T” and the positioning is such that the number is split across two stamps. I wonder if there are any non-proof intact multiples with the complete plate number extant…

The document is complete; what you are seeing is the 1/4 showing the stamps… I need a 4ft x 4ft flatbed scanner. It would be great to capture some of these large indentures/sheepskins in their entirety.
