A Quaint Little Baggage Ticket
This is the only revenue stamped baggage ticket I’ve encountered. Presumably these were pretty ephemeral and not typically saved.
It’s a “Freight Receipt and Agreement” from the West Penn Railways Company with a printed faux signature of “Williston Fish” (great name!), vice president of the railway, with a 1-cent documentary revenue stamp, punch cancelled.
Per Ron Lesher, this tax was only in place for 13 months, from December 1, 1914 through the end of 1915. Therefore, the date this ticket was punched was May 13, 1915.
